What I Offer

Damp and Timber Tech providing specialist Remedial Surveys, and pre-purchase Surveys for: rising damp, penetrating damp, dry rot, wet rot, structural defects relating to damp entry, damp walls and plasterwork. It is important that you use an experienced remedial surveyor, who is PCA / BWPDA qualified (Property Care Association, British Wood Preserving and Damp Proofing Association) and approved.

The Survey

Damp and Timber Tech will for an inspection fee carry out a personal, tailor made, remedial survey of a property or problem within a property. I will then provide a full report detailing my diagnosis of the damp problem, the cause of moisture ingress, and how to remedy the problem, together with a CAD drawing of the areas of potential damp and timber defects. I will provide specifications and material requirements for your builder or contractor to work to or provide trained and experienced qualified operatives to carry out the necessary works.
My surveys and reports are tailor made for the age and type of property, and the materials specified will be suitable for the application intended. All of which will be in the clients interest not sales based. I pride myself on experience and enjoy a personal approach to solving

Why use an Independent Remedial Surveyor

Buying a property is the single most expensive financial investment that we make in our lives , it's an asset providing security for your future in latter life. Whether you are buying or selling a property you will have a Building Survey carried out to ascertain the condition and market value on behalf of the mortgage lender.

Many contracting specialist companies carry out "FREE" or even charge for a survey / report. This is because they have an interest in selling expensive treatments, or their services. Many employ sales based surveyors on commission. Can you be sure that their report is going to give you an impartial and objective opinion of works that may or may not need doing?.

In the most part like all other commercial businesses sales targets must be achieved to ensure the viability and financial stability of the company Most people will get up to three reports complete with quotes, and these often conflict in advise given......this can be confusing, and misleading. It also sounds expensive!!.

It is important to determine whether a problem if any is expensive specialist remedial work or cheaper general builders work.

It is therefore logical to first seek advise from an Independent Surveyor, who has no financial interest in looking for work or problems that do not exist.

Why Dampness and Decay are a threat

"Movement, timber defects and dampness are,in their various forms, the three greatest potential threats to the structure of a building.......Where a problem is judged to be serious, it might prove necessary for a separate, detailed examination to be undertaken - perhaps by specialists ............ thefull extent of timber rot might require further investigation" -Extract taken from a section of RICS Report
